Daughter 5

Airplanes, like giant silver sea birds to make her wish for wings. She could fly long before she could walk.

Her omen was at the point of liftoff. The moment of tense excitement when tons of steel turn into air. Everything is uncertain transition for them as she follows back across the ocean. It is her first trip and her return.

When she gets there it will be months before decisions are made to bring them back together on a plane. Holding their miracle up against the wing of the bird, metallic in the sunlight and just as bright.

A promise to repair broken threads, a daughter country chosen again.
