Daughter 4

At dusk the guavas fall off the trees and fly away becoming foxes with wings and bright eyes. Moths pool around electric lights in the patterned formation of pale tropical flowers beating their petals in unison.

She learned to walk with the crashing forward momentum of imperfect skill. Steps away from sabotage, motor nerves found new and surprising connections.

In the dusk the only way to go through spider webs is face first, shivering afterwards. The catch of invisible cords would articulate her dreams.

"I'm not afraid of spiders, only of the webs."
